HOMERO ESPINOSA - San Francisco, California (Yerba Buena Discos, Tango Recordings)

Homero Espinosa began spinning records as DJ Huey in the Bay Area in the early 90’s, quickly finding a niche in the underground rave scene. He easily rose to prominence as one of the few rave DJ’s playing true underground house music in a scene overwhelmed by trance and European pop-dance music. Along the way, Homero began collaborating and making music with fellow Bay Area DJ and producer Allen Craig. Together, they founded Yerba Buena Discos in 2001. After years of successful music-making, Homero teamed up with label-mate Cubase Dan to form YBD Studios, a high-tech production facility in San Francisco’s legendary Moulton Studios. There, he has honed his engineering and production skills and further developed his own distinct sound, a deeper, more late-night groove than his labelmates. His DJ schedule remains hectic, taking him from the Bay Area to places as far afield as New York, Paris, and Spain. Homero’s production skills have also led to him gracing the decks as an engineer for many Bay Area house music heroes, including Energy 92.7’s Trevor Simpson.
JONN HAWLEY of the Sound Navigators - Miltown, Wisconsin (Soul Fuel, Bargrooves)

Music and dance have always been driving forces in Jonn Hawley's life. At age nine Hawley learned to play the saxophone, cello, trombone, and stand up bass. As a teenager music continued to shape the course of Hawley's life; in the late eighties he began break dancing. In 1991 Jonn started actively pursuing his love of music as a deejay. Hawley drew inspiration from the budding house and techno music scenes in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Detroit. His career as deejay was influenced by the sounds of brother Michael J and other deejays such as Derrick Carter, Ralphi Rosario, Mark Farina, Derrick May, Green Velvet and Fast Eddie. Hawley's musical talents were quickly recognized. Along with playing at numerous raves he soon found himself playing at some of the most influential clubs in Chicago and Milwaukee, such as: Karma, Red No. 5, Smart Bar, Mad Bar, Dragon Room, Tom Tom, Three ,and Thai Joes. He was also named resident deejay at Milwaukees Summerfest in 1998. In 1999 Hawley decided to put together all the pieces of musical knowledge he had acquired throughout his life and dive into the world of production. In 2002 Hawley began releasing tracks using the aliases Under Origin and 5900 West. He also established Foundation 75, his production studio. Then in 2003 Hawley launched his label, Soul Fuel Recordings at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida. Currently, Hawley is busy traveling to deejay, releasing tracks on his own, as the Sound Navigators, and with partner in crime Marcus Aurelius as Organized Crime on various underground house labels and his own label Soul Fuel Recordings. Whether he is deejaying, producing, or running his label the one sure and unchanging characteristic of Hawley's style is this: He will never be ordinary

HIGH MAINTENANCE - Dallas TX (Juiced Music, Digifunk, Shak Digital, Dustpan)

Hailing from Dallas, TX., a city that has spawned such house music greats as Brett Johnson, JT Donaldson, Demarkus Lewis, Lance Desardi, and White Lotus Society, the producing tandem of J. Caprice & Matthew Pruitt (aka 4peace), otherwise known as HIGH MAINTENANCE, seem destined to be the next big thing out of Big D! High Maintenance is makin' their presence felt with their signature funky, jackin', underground style of house music. Their high energy tag team sets are setting dancefloors afire across the South while their infectious clownin', lighthearted personas make them a definite crowd favorite. Both have been accomplished DJ's for quite some time (4peace since '89 and J. Caprice since '96), but it wasn't until recently that things started taking off on the producing front. 4peace had been dabbling in production since about 2001 and struggling to complete anything due to a nagging lazy bone, while J. Caprice had been pluggin' away since 1999 and had just started making waves for himself under his solo moniker when the two met in February 2008 after they stumbled across each others myspace profiles. Needless to say, it was a match made in heaven and like two long lost brothers, they immediately clicked and started working on tracks together under the guise of High Maintenance. The house music community instantly took notice and the pair have been getting tracks signed at a torrid pace. Just since Feb. 2008, they have already signed an impressive amount of material to such respected labels such Digi Funk, Groove Baby, Midwest Hustle, Meltin' Funk, Junky Trunk, Footwear, Dustpan, Shak Digital, & Bid Musik! Currently, they are working hard on their new label, Juiced Music!, which will launch in April 2009. With no signs of slowing down and a sound that continues to improve and mature with each release, the future looks very bright for the High Maintenance boys!
